Do you want to be the first point of contact for scientists and faculty support staff on technological and procedural data management choices? Do you want to make a difference by using your expertise to increase the quality and opportunities for research?

Job description

As a data steward, you actively support scientists at the Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM) with their research projects: among other things, you help them combine large data sets, you advise on meta-data, and you develop scripts for data cleaning and data analysis. You are the expert in the field of data management. In addition, you take care of all data sets within the school, including making well known which data sets are available.

You are part of the Research Support Team (RST) at TiSEM. Customer focus is paramount. You work in the RST team, but also with research staff in departments. You and your colleagues within the Research Support Team reduce the burden of research staff and help improve research quality. Data stewards are new within the school; the position is still flexible and under development.

You are also part of a larger campus community of data stewards that operate within our schools and from our library and IT services. Together with these colleagues you are responsible to facilitate and safeguard the campus-wide Research and Data management Infrastructure.
Data stewards are well positioned to offer workshops and help colleagues and students improve their software skills (e.g. R). Candidates with teaching experience are preferred. If not already, TiU offers you the opportunity to certify yourself as a Carpentry-trainer.
