The Land Use Planning chair group investigates how we deal with scarcity of space and resources. An increasing number of actors claims space for a wide range of activities: energy production, climate adaptation, recreation, housing, etc. What does this mean for the various stakeholders in the countryside, that own, use and appropriate the rural? Which functions can be combined and which should be separated? How should this be organized? We aim for inclusive solutions and actively engage with stakeholders in all phases of our research. Accordingly, we educate and train a growing numbers of Bachelor, Master and PhD students to become knowledgeable, reflective, and creative landscape architects and planners.

As assistant or associate professor Land Use Planning you will dedicate approximately 40% of your time to teaching and 60% to (commissioned) research and management tasks. You will actively engage in the Dutch debate of how to use our green open space.

• a PhD in Spatial Planning, Environmental Sciences, Sustainable Development Studies, Geography, or another related field;
• demonstrated interest in rural and environmental topics;
• knowledge of the Dutch situation regarding spatial planning and (rural) governance;
• at least three publications in international, peer-reviewed ISI journals;
• experience in teaching, preferably also in course coordination;
• good communicative and writing skills;
• willingness to contribute to general tasks and activities of the chair group;
• willingness to learn Dutch, and an excellent command of English (C1 level).

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will be offered a fixed-term, 7 year contract which, upon positive evaluation based on criteria elaborated in the University's Tenure Track policy, can lead to a permanent employment contract as professor. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary from a minimum of € 3,974,- to a maximum of € 5,439,- (assistant professor position) and from € 5,506,- to a maximum of € 6,702,- (associate professor position) for a full-time working week of 38 hours in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 11-13).
