Job description

Positions
As part of a continuing growth initiative, the Management Department of Tilburg University invites applications for four positions of assistant or associate professor in entrepreneurship and/or strategy. We are able to hire applicants to join the Department in any month during 2024. We welcome applications from individuals with research and teaching interests in corporate entrepreneurship, corporate venturing, business innovation, new venture growth and survival, startups, new product development, business models, business and corporate strategy, strategic renewal, and international business. We are looking for candidates with a PhD in entrepreneurship and/or strategy with demonstrated research potential/excellence in top journal publications, plus evidence of strong teaching, service, and grant application ability.  
Candidates will be expected to play an important role in the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation and in the Master of Strategic Management offered by the department. The candidates will join the research group of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Department to grow our initiatives in entrepreneurship and strategy. Ph.D. candidate applicants will be expected to complete their Ph.D. prior to taking up employment. The Department of Management
The Department has a very strong research orientation with a focus on high-quality publications. Faculty members publish widely in UT Dallas journals such as ASQ, AMJ, SMJ, OrgSci, JIBS, MgtSci, MISQ, ISR, JOC, JOOM, POM and MSOM, as well as in entrepreneurship journals such as the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. We aim to maximize the research time available to research-active faculty and working conditions are otherwise comparable to major research universities in Europe and North America. Compensation is competitive and among the top in Dutch universities. In addition, we provide guaranteed travel and starting research budgets. Faculty moving to the Netherlands may be eligible for 30% tax abatement for a period of five years.

The Department currently hosts a fast-growing bachelor program of Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation, as well as a master track and minor in entrepreneurship. In addition, the Department offers three other master’s programs and makes significant contributions to several other bachelor’s programs in the School. The Department also manages two tracks of Ph.D. programs, viz., Strategy & Organization as well as Information & Supply Chain Management, which prepare future researchers for productive academic careers with excellent international placements. We strive for excellent education, which is both grounded in scientific research and prepares our students for a career in business.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: UD Tenure Track / UHD indefinite period.

For the position of Assistant Professor, we offer a fulltime tenure-track position for six years. Tenure decisions for Assistant Professors are made in their fifth year based on performance indicators agreed upon at the start of the appointment. We expect that candidates have the potential to grow towards an Associate Professor and/or Full Professor role in the future. The starting gross salary is based on scale 11 of the Collective Labor Agreement Universities (vsnu.nl). Candidates may be eligible for an early tenure decision and accompanying starter grant funded by the Dutch government.
For the fulltime position of Associate Professor, we offer a permanent contract. The starting gross salary is based on scale 13 of the Collective Labor Agreement Universities (vsnu.nl)
 
You are entitled to a holiday allowance amounting to 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% of your gross yearly income.
