UNU-MERIT Graduate School is looking for an alumni officer.

Job description

As Alumni Officer you will help expand the UNU-MERIT alumni network (close to 1.750 alumni) and increase interaction through regular communication, online platform use and targeted events. You support the collection and analysis of alumni-related data which will help in the evaluation and promotion of our education and training programmes. You will also be instrumental in identifying the networking, training and other needs of our alumni and explore with the Graduate School team how to service them. Overall, the position will contribute to building a strong alumni network for our graduates and actively involve them in research, teaching and other projects.

The alumni officer is responsible for:

  1. Maintaining and analysing the alumni community database respecting GDPR rules and regulations;
  2. Preparing materials for communication about the Graduate School and liaising with the Communication Office and the SBE and UM alumni offices;
  3. Drafting communication to students, staff and alumni about alumni efforts. This includes: 
    - Alumni updates for the UNU-MERIT newsletter;
    - Content for a dedicated alumni website; and
    - The alumni magazine;
  4. Monitoring and feeding the alumni LinkedIn account;
  5. Contributing to social media pages, including creating posts and promoting alumni achievements;
  6. Reaching out to alumni to map their needs in terms of networking, labour market support, internship provisions, training and other elements of alumni relations;
  7. Attending meetings and representing the UNU-MERIT alumni with UM central and SBE alumni offices;
  8. Exploring opportunities for generating revenues through alumni-related activities;
  9. Participating in the alumni committee as a faculty member;
  10. Liaising with programme teams to identify priorities and, in line with programme needs, develop and implement innovative ideas to strengthen the UNU-MERIT alumni office in relation to those programmes.

Requirements

•    Bachelor degree in social science. Having a master’s degree is an asset; 
•    Fluent in English;
•    Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; 
•    Ability to engage with different stakeholders;
•    Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team;
•    Knowledge of data management, customer relationship management or statistical tools; 
•    Proficient in using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and willingness to learn new programmes, such as Qualtrics and Canvas;
•    Previous work experience in higher education administration, project management, community management and volunteer management is considered an asset.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.
