Job description

As a post-doctoral researcher, you are responsible for the design, planning and execution of experimental research of this research line using cell and animal models. You will co-supervise two PhD students working on this project, present findings at scientific meetings, and write manuscripts and grant proposals. Together with the PhD students and a biotechnician, you will conduct a proteomic analysis in a sepsis mouse model to identify pathways relevant to mitochondrial quality control (mtQC) in the kidney, factoring in age and sex. The identified pathways will be validated using CRISPR/Cas9 knock-down in a cell model of sepsis-AKI. Based on these findings, you will identify therapeutic targets using in silico analysis, followed by a targeted phenotypic screening to identify compounds able to modulate these targets to induce mitochondrial recovery. You will closely collaborate with experts from the Emergency Department, Internal Medicine, Intensive Care Unit (UMCG), Clinical Sciences, Infection Medicine (Lund University, Sweden), and Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (University of Münster, Germany), as well as with private partners (Sulfateq BV)
