We are seeking a motivated and talented PhD candidate to assist us in further developing the signal processing of EEG (electroencephalography). The goal? Enhancing its application in psychiatric clinical practice. Does this excite you? Then read on!

Job description

In our clinical mental health care facilities, technical research is conducted with the aim of improving the efficiency and applicability of our current EEG acquisitions, using methods based on modern cognitive neuroscience. Our innovative application of EEG is currently in use at several of our locations, aiding our colleagues in making treatment decisions for patients with depressive disorders, to offer the right treatment more quickly (known as stratified psychiatry). We aim to make the EEG assessment process more efficient, less invasive, and time-consuming for both patients and practitioners. We are considering various innovative possibilities, including technical modifications to the EEG setup, improved signal processing, and the use of questionnaires.

Synaeda is located in Friesland, with our headquarters in Leeuwarden. Part of the research department, specialized in EEG signal processing, is located in Nijmegen. As a PhD candidate, you will work at both locations, but primarily in Nijmegen.

Your responsibilities:

  • Conducting research to identify and implement new techniques to enhance the efficiency of EEG assessments in practical applications.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians to develop innovative solutions.
  • Designing and conducting experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of new approaches.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting EEG data from patients treated at our clinics.
  • Publishing research results in reputable scientific journals and presenting them at conferences.
