This position is embedded within the Department of Educational Development & Research (O&O). We contribute to educational innovation and research and offer support to teachers, educational coordinators and leaders within the various bachelor’s and master’s programs of the FHML in the following four domains: Faculty Development, Instructional Design and e-Learning, Evaluation and Assessment. As an associate professor at the Department of Educational Development & Research, you will participate in research that is part of the School of Health Professions Education (SHE). SHE is one of 6 graduate schools at FHML and focuses on a range of research topics relevant to health professions education.
In this job, you take a leading role in educational innovations and research within the domain of learning and curriculum design addressing questions such as how to embed technology in a curriculum, how to tailor a curriculum to the needs of learners.

Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences
At the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML), everything revolves around healthy living. Our research and education focuses not only on recovery, but also on prevention, health maintenance and health promotion. Our mission is to use our knowledge and expertise to bring about healthy lives for individuals and for society as a whole. FHML works closely in education, research and healthcare provision with the Maastricht academic hospital, together with which it forms the Maastricht University Medical Centre (MUMC+).
The largest faculty at Maastricht University, FHML is home to an international community of staff and students. We offer a wide range of Dutch- and English-taught bachelor’s and master’s programmes, using innovative educational concepts and building bridges to practice.
Research at FHML is multidisciplinary and revolves around select, topical themes. This department supports the development and innovation of bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate training programmes within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML), Maastricht University, in various domains such as instruction and e-learning, assessment, faculty development, and evaluation or quality improvement. Another important sphere of activity is to support research on education. Furthermore, we participate in a broad range of teaching roles and provide training and consultancy services.
