Job description

The TU Delft Extension School for Continuing Education offers online education and courses to professionals worldwide in socially relevant fields like 'Energy Transition', 'Sustainable Cities', and 'Future of Transportation'. The Business Team is seeking a Product Owner for our website 'Online Courses for Engineers, Designers, and Scientists - TU Delft Online Learning'. The Business Team is responsible for developing and promoting courses for professionals, as well as enhancing the customer journey.

As the Product Owner of our website, you will be accountable for defining and managing the product vision in alignment with the team. Additionally, you will create the product roadmap and collaborate with the development team to achieve roadmap objectives. You'll operate in an agile manner. Our current website is internally managed by TU Delft, with our in-house developers. The website is built on the Django platform and coded in Python.

You'll delve into user preferences, translating them into requirements. Working closely with various team members, such as the website's content manager, marketers, administrative team, product managers, and developers, you'll ensure the website's development optimally aligns with customer needs.

Furthermore, you'll engage in ICT projects impacting the website, such as Identity Management System migration or integration with services like Edudex. Leveraging the Extension School's resources, you'll involve the right individuals in these projects and maintain an overview of tasks and planning, including go/no-go moments.

You will report to the Manager of Business Development at the Extension School.

The TU Delft Extension School for Continuing Education is in an exciting phase of growth, with plans to revamp our website. As the Product Owner, you will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in this project.

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the product vision for the website.
  • Identify and analyze user needs, translating them into requirements.
  • Develop and maintain the product roadmap, including prioritization.
  • Collaborate with developers to convert requirements into technical specifications.
  • Manage the product backlog.
  • Facilitate effective communication between developers and other team members.
  • Collaborate with content managers and marketers to implement website improvements aligned with customer needs.
  • Ensure a streamlined development process based on agile/scrum methodologies.
  • Evaluate website performance and identify potential enhancements.
  • Engage in ICT projects affecting the website, providing planning and oversight

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Passion for product development and a strong sense of user experience.
  • Experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders from different teams.
  • Basic understanding of ICT terminology.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies, such as Scrum.
  • Ability to comprehend a technically complex IT landscape and participate in projects within this context.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • TU Delft is an international organization; proficiency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written, is essential for this role.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 jaar.

  • Duration of contract is 1 years with prospect of permanent.
  • A job of 32-40 hours per week.
  • A salary based on scale 10 of the CAO for Dutch Universities with a minimum of €3.226,- and a maximum of €5.090,- gross per month based on a fulltime contract (38 hours), plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

‘To educate the world and enhance the quality of campus and online education’ is the mission of the TU Delft Extension School for Continuing Education.  A mission that has guided all activities of our innovation-oriented organisation since its foundation in 2014.

We focus on online continuing education. Together with the TU Delft faculties and external partners, we create and deliver courses and short programmes that help learners at various stages of their professional life. We help them stay on top of their game, whether they are looking to change career, broaden their skillset, or acquire further academic qualifications.
