Job description

The Bioprocess Engineering Group (BPE) at Wageningen University and Research is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Academic Teacher with consolidated expertise in the area of education and demonstrated ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary setting.

As a senior lecturer, you are expected to:
  • coordinate courses;
  • design and provide lectures, tutorials, practical courses and the reader for these subjects;
  • in addition, you are expected to contribute to educational innovation by developing new courses and (re-)designing course materials, in harmony with the general vision of education in BPE and specifically in consultation with other members of the academic staff.

The Bioprocess Technology chair group is responsible for broad biotechnologically and biobased oriented subjects. These subjects are given mainly in the Biotechnology and in the Biobased Science programs by means of several BSc and MSc courses created and developed over the last 10 years. In these courses either the basics (Basic Cell Factory Design, Bioreactor Design, Separation process design, Transfer Process) or the advanced (Advanced Bioreactor Design, Advanced Separation Process Design, Advanced Biorefinery, Bioprocess Design) criteria to design and analyze both current and novel solutions for bioprocess are given to the students.

Requirements

For the purpose of teaching both BSc and MSc students, we are looking for a senior teacher with all-round teaching hard skills in biotechnology and specific experience in the field of (bio)process technology, as well as proven soft skills in efficiently coaching and supervising Thesis students and in working in harmony with other staff members already involved in education.

You are/have:
  • a PhD in (Bio)Process Technology or related training in Biotechnology or Process Engineering;
  • excellent and proved didactic and communication skills.
  • experience in the research fields of the Chair of Bioprocess Engineering,
  • excellent and consolidated experience as a teacher at academic level, especially in designing and coordinating courses;
  • experience in setting up mathematical models for solving Bioprocess Engineering design-oriented issues;
  • experience in coaching and supervising Thesis and Internship students.

In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1 If you do not yet have this level, we will of course help you and you can go to our language center Wageningen in'to Language

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €4.332,- and €6.737,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 11/12).

Initially, we offer you a one-year contract, which will then be extended to an open-ended contract if there is mutual enthusiasm. Of course, we would be happy to discuss this with you if you have any questions.
