Job description

As a member of the Public Health Virology group you will be part of the WHO collaborating center for Arbovirus and Haemorrhagic Fever Reference and Research. We are looking for an allround molecular research technician.

You will be involved in several surveillance studies on the human animal interface. This includes sample processing and PCR testing of samples of multiple animal species, as well as the practical organisation of sample collection, and reporting of results. As such you are part of the Erasmus MC Viroscience preparedness strategy for rare and emerging viruses. Experience with working with databases and organising large datasets is an asset.

Requirements

We are seeking a motivated, flexible and enthousiastic technician with a degree in a relevant life science field. The core task of the technician will be surveillance on the human animal interface. Specific requirements including the following:
  • Have laboratory experience in molecular biology.
  • The ability to organize and carefully maintain reagents, workflows and samples records.
  • Have interests in working with pathogen diagnostics and surveillance.
  • Capability to work in a team as well as individually.

Conditions of employment

  • You will receive a temporary position for the fixed term of 2 years.
  • The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 3.302,- (scale 6)
    depending on your level of education and relevant experience and based on a full-time working week of 36 hours.
