Job description

The Education and Learning Sciences (ELS) Group at Wageningen University is seeking a driven, socially engaged postdoc researcher who is passionate about sustainability transitions, has keen interest in process data and its application for and co-creation with end-users (i.e., operators and their managers).Furthermore, you show a real passion for linking scientific rigor with relevance for practice.

As advancements in technology reshape our world, industries often find themselves struggling to fully embrace the innovations of Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. This affects their strides toward sustainability. A core challenge? The limited engagement of end-users like operators, managers, and stakeholders in the creation and implementation of data-driven models

In collaboration with Radboud University, ISPT, and various industry partners (via projects M4M - Measurements 4 Management – ISPT and EBI - EBI - Engineering Business Intelligence ), we're spearheading a transformative research venture. This mission seeks to address these industry challenges through the theories of learning organizations and meaningful work. We are seeking to expand our team with you as our new researcher to work in these projects.
  • Synthesize literature on learning organizations, employee-driven innovation, and meaningful work;
  • Translate research findings into innovative interventions;
  • Collaborate with end-users, employees, and managers to co-create data process models with a responsible innovation approach;
  • Implement designed interventions in various stages of process development within industrial settings and across diverse stakeholder groups;
  • Evaluate intervention effects and underlying factors on multiple levels;
  • Analysis of the responsibility of the industry with regard to process model systems, especially when taking into account sustainability values and norms;
  • Actively engage in discussions on the adoption and implementation of process data models, and disseminate research outcomes.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must have the following qualities:
  • Ph.D. in fields such as learning sciences, organizational behavior, or innovation studies, with a track record of interdisciplinary research and a thirst for scientific advancement;
  • Affinity with sustainability transitions, Industry 4.0/5.0 complemented with an ambition to publish in scientific journals;
  • Creative and innovative mindset;
  • Exceptional networking skills and a knack for thriving in international, collaborative environments;
  • Dedication, openness to feedback, and the ability to empathize with others;
  • Knowledge of Dutch language is desirable but not compulsory;
  • Excellent English language proficiency (minimum CEFR C1 level. Sometimes it is necessary to submit an internationally recognised Certificate of Proficiency in the English Language. More information can be found here.

Conditions of employment

Wageningen University & Research offers excellent terms of employment. A few highlights from our Collective Labour Agreement include:
  • study leave, and partially paid parental leave;
  • working hours that can be discussed and arranged so that they allow for the best possible work-life balance;
  • the option to accrue additional compensation / holiday hours by working more, up to 40 hours per week;

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3.226,- and € 5.090,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10). Initially, we offer you a one-year contract, which will then be extended to an open-ended contract if there is mutual enthusiasm.
