Are you looking to build or expand your own research line within a team of people who share your enthusiasm for medical applications and enjoy working together? We offer a position for an assistant professor in AI-based medical image analysis.

Job description

We seek to appoint a faculty member who is passionate about science as well as teaching. We are looking for a complementary research line in the group and are open to various research topics in AI-based medical image analysis.

You will become a member of the Medical Image Analysis Group at the Department, headed by Prof. Josien Pluim. The group includes three other assistant/associate professors and in total consists of around 20 enthusiastic researchers, working on both methodological and applied innovations. Topics in the research lines of our faculty members include image analysis, quantification and machine/deep learning for oncology, cardiology, neurology and histopathology, as well as high-field MR imaging and RF safety. The group has strong ties with the University Medical Center Utrecht (both in research and education) and with Philips NL, but also collaborates with other clinical institutes and industry.

Faculty members have substantial independence to steer their own research lines. There is, however, also overlap in research interests, as we enjoy working in cooperation and we strengthen our work by combining expertise. Together we take responsibility for teaching and mentoring students (BSc, MSc and PhD) in medical imaging as well as for creating an inspiring and pleasant group culture.

The Medical Image Analysis Group is part of the cluster Biomedical Imaging & Modeling within the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The Biomedical Imaging & Modeling cluster works on medical imaging, image analysis, and modelling and interpretation of biomedical systems via methods and techniques from e.g. mathematics, computer science, physics, and medicine.

Health and Artificial Intelligence are focus areas of the university. The Eindhoven Artificial Intelligence Systems Institute (EAISI) unites the AI community at TU/e, with Health one of its three application areas.
