Job description

Maastricht University’s Staff Representation Office (SRO) and Department of Marketing and Communications (M&C) seek to appoint a Representation Communication Coordinator for an initial period of 1 year. You will develop a communication strategy for the councils and initiate events as well as publications to promote dialogue between the university’s representative councils (the university, faculty and service councils) and the university community by facilitating:
  • Communication between the councils and the community to enhance awareness of the work of the councils (for example, in the form of social media posts, intranet messages from the council, public minutes, events, etc.);
  • Communication between the community and the councils, with the aim of encouraging the community to give input into the representative process (for example, in the form of public forums, “Ask Me Anything” sessions, faculty assemblies, through e-consultations, etc.);
  • Communication between the different councils to promote cooperation (through meetings and joint sessions, etc.).

This coordinator would both have an organisational role by creating, planning events and establishing communication channels and a role in creating and producing content.

This is a new position, jointly housed in the university’s Marketing & Communications Department and the Staff Representation Office. The coordinator will draw on the resources of the Marketing and Communications team, but direction on activities and content will be provided by the Staff Representation Office and a steering committee of chairs of various councils.

What do we ask of you? You will:
  • Conduct a needs analysis among all stakeholders;
  • Formulate a communications strategy, including activities aimed at promoting communication between the councils and the community, the community and the councils, and between the councils;
  • Create and supervise the production of engaging content for various university media outlets;
  • Develop and organise events for council members to interact with staff and students;
  • Work together with the Elections Office during the elections to promote awareness of the elections and increase turnout.
  • Contribute to various annual reports and documents;
  • Do other organisational tasks, as required.

Requirements

  • You have a degree or experience in communications or a related field;
  • You have an excellent command of English (C1 level) and Dutch (C1 level), both spoken and written;
  • You are familiar with or are willing to learn about staff and student participation in Dutch higher education;
  • You are a team player, willing to work in close collaboration with the Staff Representation Office, the Marketing & Communications team, and the chairs and members of the various faculty and service councils;
  • You are able to formulate and execute a communications strategy, that inspires all stakeholders with a creative perspective;
  • You can produce engaging and creative content and can guide others in producing content;
  • You can organise events;
  • You are result oriented, proactive, independent and flexible.

Conditions of employment

As Representation Communication Coordinator at Maastricht University Office, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:
  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 9 according to UFO profile Communicatiemedewerker, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3377,00 and €4640,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0,5 - 0,7 FTE.

You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
