We are looking for a Managing Director to join our interdisciplinary, international and vibrant faculty.

Job description

In addition to excellent management skills, we will welcome a new colleague who can work with a diverse range of people and help us navigate future challenges.

As Managing Director of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) you are responsible for effective and efficient operations that support the delivery of education and research within an interdisciplinary and international faculty. This includes healthy financial management, and you are thus able to oversee the financial implications and consequences of decisions.

You contribute to guiding the faculty in times of change and transformation, e.g. to shaping the Faculty’s stance on the debate on internationalisation within Dutch academia. You are an important sparring partner for the dean and other board members. You also advise the board on policy development and implementation, especially in areas that are directly part of your duties, such as personnel, ARBO, organization, housing, IT and finance.

You manage the faculty office and its associated departments and faculty services, namely the Educational Development and Policy Office (EDaP), Office of Student Affairs (Bureau Onderwijs), Marketing and Communication, Research Support and ICT. Together with these teams and supported by the Finance and Human Resource department, you ensure a pleasant, stimulating and inspiring working environment and you facilitate the work of our colleagues in education and research.

You represent our faculty both within Maastricht University (UM) and beyond. Within UM, you contribute to the development of FASoS in close collaboration with other faculty directors and other facilities/services, for example by participating in cross-faculty working groups. You also represent FASoS at meetings with directors from other Universities and with other stakeholders.
