Job description

What you will be doing
The range of tasks you will be responsible for is broad and multifaceted. You are responsible for (further) developing our policy regarding organizing, storing, securing, archiving and making research data FAIR. You are an intermediary between researchers and ICT and provide both strategic and tactical advice on storage and sharing of research data. You act as advisor, point of contact, guide our employees in the right direction and are responsible for the following tasks:
  • Development of data management policies for the longer term
  • Structuring data storage, overseeing data archiving and data security
  • Facilitating making the NIN's research data FAIR.
  • Facilitating the implementation of data user contracts
  • Working towards open access of data while ensuring security and privacy
  • Providing assistance to researchers in complying with data storage plans
  • Ensuring adherence to institutional data storage agreements
  • Providing assistance to researchers in writing data management plans
  • Development of policies regarding ICT services for research support and data sharing
  • Be aware of the privacy aspects of some of the research data and inform the privacy officer about such data.

Requirements

What you will be contributing
  • Education or background in data science, or experience with research data as a researcher.
  • Education level: at least university of applied sciences (Dutch: “HBO”).
  • ICT knowledge (storage systems, databases, scripting, etc.) is a plus
  • Expertise on making data FAIR
  • Knowledge of information security and privacy laws
  • Affinity and passion for working in a scientific environment.
  • Education at least HBO, with academic work and thinking level
  • Enthusiasm for sharing data
  • Good English language skills
  • Good Dutch language skills or the motivation to learn the Dutch language
  • Analytical ability, communicative, persuasive, creating support

Conditions of employment

Depending on education and experience the minimum salary is € 3226,00 and the maximum salary is € 5090,00 gross per month for a full-time appointment (scale 10 cao Nederlandse Universiteiten/KNAW). This is exclusive of 8% vacation allowance, 8.3% year-end bonus, travel allowance, internet allowance, home working allowance and pension accrual with ABP.

For example, by working an extra two hours a week, it is possible to increase the number of days off from 29 to 41 days a year (with full-time employment).
