Job description

Do you want to be part of WEPAL-QUASIMEME as project leader? Do you want to help the team and the participants in WEPAL-programs with your knowledge about soils and plant material? Are you interested in fulfilling the role of promotor of our work both in The Netherlands and abroad, to conduct market research and expand our programs? Then we may be looking for you!

As a project leader at WEPAL-QUASIMEME, you will work in a small team that organizes certified proficiency tests, produces test materials and sells reference materials to support the quality assurance of (environmental chemical) laboratories.

In this position you are responsible for the content and organization of the WEPAL program within the WEPAL-QUASIMEME team, you are the first contact for the professional questions of the participants and together with the program leader of QUASIMEME you will take care, among other things, of the statistical processing and reporting of proficiency tests.

As a project leader, you will also be responsible for the development of new proficiency tests that meet the current needs of environmental laboratories. You will represent WEPAL-QUASIMEME at home and abroad, organize annual meetings of the Scientific Advisory Board, and actively participate in conferences and other international meetings in the field of proficiency testing.

Based on this, you will identify new developments and opportunities within and outside the Netherlands for renewal of the proficiency research programs.

Your duties and responsibilities include:
  • Organizing and participating in meetings/conferences/workshops.
  • Maintaining contacts and establishing partnerships with the soil groups of WU and WENR, ISRIC, and the Soil Chemistry and Soil Biology laboratories of WU.
  • Statistical analysis and reporting of proficiency tests.
  • Evaluation of the performance of the participants.
  • Selection of sample material for the exchange rounds of current and new programs and their planning.

Requirements

  • Academic training in the field of soil science, earth or environmental sciences
  • Theoretical and practical experience in the fields of soil and crop analysis and soil chemistry
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of statistics with regard to laboratory analyses
  • Experience with quality assurance systems (ISO 17043 and/or ISO 17025) is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, both oral and written (min. C1 level)

The organization of Interlaboratory Studies by WEPAL-QUASIMEME, part of Wageningen University is accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council RvA since April 26, 2000. The accreditation is based on the ISO17043 requirements and covers the quality system of the organization as well as the determinant groups mentioned on the website of the RvA.

Within WEPAL-QUASIMEME, WEPAL covers proficiency tests related to the terrestrial environment (soil, plants, manure, compost and biomass) and freshwater sediment. QUASIMEME organizes proficiency tests for compounds and matrices in the marine environment (seawater, marine sediment, biota and shellfish toxins).

You will initially receive a one-year contract, which will be extended to an open-ended contract upon in mutual enthusiasm.
