Job description

The Postdoc position is part of the DCSE project "NeRB" on 3D representation for architectural design. The research focuses on three main phases:

  1. Data Collection: Collaborate with architects to collect and curate diverse building data.
  2. NeRF Pipeline Development: Develop the NeRF (Neural Radiance Field) pipeline using collected data, incorporating expertise from architects and computer scientists for training and evaluating synthesized scenes.
  3. Future Improvements: Identify research gaps and potential projects for refining NeRF, ultimately creating a research tool to visualize multimodal spatial data including graphics and photos.

Deliverables after one year include:

  1. Data Pipeline: A working pipeline for curating diverse building-specific data for training the NeRF model.
  2. Online Demo: A platform demonstrating the synthesis of interior and outdoor views based on input images including design graphics and context photos.
  3. Scientific Papers: Submission to reputable computer vision/graphics conferences to share research outcomes.
  4. Workshop: Organize a joint workshop to disseminate research outcomes to computer scientists and architects at TUDelft.

The position is based at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. The research will be supervised at the intersection of AiDAPT lab and the Graphics group at the faculty of Computer Science.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Vision, or a related field.
  • Expertise in GPU programming and high-performance computing.
  • Strong publication record in computer graphics and/or computer vision.
  • Experience in neural networks, particularly in scene rendering applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year - with prospect of extension.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (based on scale 10: € 3.226,00 - € 5.090,00 per month gross). A two year contract is offered for a position of 32-40 hours per week. The TU Delft offers a customisable compensation package, discounts on health insurance, and a monthly work costs contribution.
