As Funding Officer, you advise staff of the Faculty of Arts in exploring various national and international grant opportunities and nominations. You support them in preparing grant applications and provide substantive feedback on applications. You organise and coordinate activities that help to further develop our (international) research talents in the field of research funding. You coordinate the processes surrounding grant applications and nominations for prizes and memberships. You are the sounding board for the Faculty Board in terms of strategic positioning for research funding.

You are part of the Research & Impact department. This is the heart of the Faculty in terms of research policy and support. The department was recently established, so there is plenty of room for creative ideas on how we want to organise our work as a team. You are happy to think along on this. You also work together with the EU-funding team, talent consultants, the other Funding Officers within the University of Groningen (UG), research directors and Human Resources.

Your tasks are:

- advising and guiding our (international) researchers at individual and group level
- identifying the career stage of researchers and the matching strategy needed to work towards successful applications
- collecting and accessing all relevant information in the field of personal grants and other grant opportunities (NWO/EU/KNAW etc.)
- identifying new grant opportunities in the field of the Humanities and possible connections with other scientific disciplines
- mapping networks within and outside the UG and actively contributing to maintaining and expanding these networks
- analysing data on grant applications and research, and identifying opportunities for improving the Faculty's research policy.

You have:

- a Master’s degree or equivalent experience. A completed PhD is an advantage, but not a requirement
- affinity with humanities research
- relevant experience and knowledge in the field of personal career scholarships and grants, preferably within a university environment
- knowledge of the national and European grant and scholarship system. Preferably you have experience with complex grants such as projects with consortia
- a relevant network and the ability to expand this network
- affinity with research policy and the societal impact of research
- excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English (English CEFR C1 level).

Fixed-term contract: 12 maanden.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary, depending on qualifications and work experience, between € 4,332 and € 5,929 (salary scale 11) gross per month
- a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income and 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance
- a temporary appointment for a specified period of 1 year. Upon a good evaluation this will be a permanent contract. After six months, a results and development interview will take place to determine whether the appointment can be converted to permanent employment
