Job description

Erasmus MC is in a strong position to drive the impactful journey of AI in healthcare. Our valuable data and broad methodological, clinical, and technical expertise create an ideal ground for in-house model development and research in AI in Healthcare, implementation, and monitoring of our own AI solutions in clinical practice, and validation of third-party solutions. To drive this exciting journey, Erasmus MC will setup an AI Expertise Center to enable the responsible development, implementation, and monitoring of actionable AI to improve the quality and efficiency of health care and business operations.

The AI Expertise Center will help set the agenda for AI priorities and development, facilitate access to expertise and tools, and drive the design of all the procedures necessary throughout the life cycle of the AI algorithms from idea to implementation, monitoring and their potential decommissioning by leveraging all the expertise available in the Erasmus MC. It will bring all earlier AI initiatives together in this expertise center and build an active community for researchers, clinicians, and other stakeholders within the Erasmus MC. In addition, an active cooperation with TU-delft and EUR on AI is an important part of the community building task.

As lead AI Expertise Center you will be responsible for:
  • The creation of the organizational structure.
  • Establishment of the team.
  • Development of the project plan.
  • Steering the implementation of the tasks of the AI Center. These tasks include, AI agenda and priority setting, AI Community Building, AI Design Process Guidance, AI Monitoring Process, Enabling AI Research, etc.

In your role you will be the spokesperson of the AI Center for internal and external stakeholders. After the setup period of 2 years the role could evolve into the operational lead of the center.

Requirements

We are looking for a lead AI with the following qualifications and skills:
  • Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary projects.
  • Expertise in the development or application of AI.
  • Clinical or research background is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Experience in team management, you are a real team player.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Dutch is preferred but not a requirement.

Conditions of employment

  • You will receive a contract for 1 year.
  • The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 6.986,- (scale 12), depending on your level of education and relevant experience, based on a full-time working week of 36 hours.
  • Working partially from home and 4 days of 9 hours is possible
  • Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and a individual travel expense package.
  • Pension insurance with ABP. We take care of 70% of the monthly contribution.
  • Special benefits, such as a incompany physiotherapist and bicycle repairer. And there is also a gym where you can work on your fitness after work.
