Join our pioneering Department of Analytical Chemistry and Chemometrics, where we transform chemical data into valuable insights for industrial sustainability using the newest hybrid AI. Collaborate on exciting projects with industrial partners, develop new methods, and grow as a data scientist in a diverse and dynamic team. You have a part to play!
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be involved in two projects. In the first project, you will work together with several colleagues within the department and with other researchers in Environmental Sciences and in Educational Sciences to create interpretable and explainable 'industry 4.0 models' that provide both economic and environmental predictions and that may be adopted by companies. The second project aims to reduce energy consumption in our faculty through development and implementation of AI in energy management. This project revolves around interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers from several domains of natural sciences to together provide value to our own backyard.
Your work includes developing new quantitative methods and disseminating them in papers and presentations. It will involve intensive collaboration with colleagues from academia and industry, so teamwork is a must! You will supervise student internships in the line of your own research and you will also be involved in teaching MSc and BSc students. Your research will require infrequent national travel to industrial partners.
Fixed-term contract: You will be appointed for an initial period of 12 months, after which your contract can be extended by at least 8 more months.
The Department of Analytical Chemistry and Chemometrics has been at the forefront of chemical data science for more than 50 years. As a department of about 15 PhDs and postdoctoral researchers, we research the next generation of data science methods to translate chemical measurements into valuable insights and predictions. Our researchers have very diverse backgrounds and learning from each other is a core value in the department. We have a specific interest in the UN Sustainable Development Goals: we develop green information technology to create environmental sustainability in industry. Scientific collaboration is key, not only among the group members, but also in working together with other scientific collaborators in and outside Radboud University and with our large network of analytical technology providers, large chemical companies, academic hospitals and governmental institutions with which we turn our academic developments into practical value.
Most of our projects have an interdisciplinary and collaborative scope: we provide the fundamental data science to create valuable and comprehensive solutions (together with social scientists and scientists from other natural science and engineering domains). A postdoctoral researcher position within our department is therefore a great experience, where your contribution will be valued and valuable and where you may grow as a data scientist and as an interdisciplinary researcher.
