Job description

One PhD position is available in the group of Alexander Belyy at the University of Groningen in the field of structural biochemistry of bacterial virulence factors.

Infectious diseases are a leading cause of death worldwide. Using cutting-edge structural biology techniques, we aim to unravel the molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis, laying the groundwork for novel therapeutic approaches.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team focused on elucidating the complex interactions between bacterial virulence factors and their host targets. Through the application of modern biochemical and molecular biological methods, as well as advanced techniques such as cryo-electron microscopy, the PhD student will investigate the structure-function relationships of key bacterial proteins involved in infection processes.

Join us in our quest to understand the intricacies of bacterial virulence and to contribute to the global fight against infectious diseases. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of scientific research that has the potential to make an impact on public health.
