We are looking for Postdoctoral Researcher with a background in environmental ethics to develop and conduct student training on ethical and integrity aspects in climate and environmental technologies.

Job description

The Department of Ethics, Law and Humanities (Faculty of Medicine) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on a large European funded project: Research Ethics and integrity for the GREEN transition: RE4GREEN.

The project’s main goal is to contribute to a European Research Area (ERA) ethics and integrity framework for research and innovation activities designed to support the transition to a sustainable economy and society as envisioned by the European Green Deal.

Within the project, Amsterdam UMC is responsible for both mapping the existing educational materials and programmes on the subject and developing new and innovative online and offline educational materials. Amsterdam UMC is also responsible for conducting large scale training of students, researchers, citizen scientists and Europe ethics experts across Europe. The Postdoctoral researcher will, together with other team members, contribute to all of these tasks.

Requirements

Essential:
  • PhD in philosophy, ethics or a relevant social science discipline;
  • Background in environmental ethics or a closely related field;
  • Demonstrable interest in research ethics and/or research integrity;
  • Demonstrable interest in the development and implementation of training;
  • Excellent social skills and the ability to work well in a diverse team;
  • Excellent oral and written English skills.

Desirable (one or more of the following):
  • Experience developing online training materials;
  • Experience of delivering educational programmes.

Conditions of employment

  • The position is for 0.7 fte (which equals 25,2 hours/week), for 32 months (starting with a contract for one year) and will start Spring 2024.
  • Salary scale: 10 € 3.359,- tot € 5.292,- (based on a 36 hour week), depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Additional benefits including an 8.3% end-of-year bonus and 8% holiday pay. Calculate your net salary here.
  • Your pension is accrued at The Dutch Pension Fund for government and education employees (ABP). Amsterdam UMC contributes 70% of this scheme
  • We reimburse 75% of your OV travel costs (commuting costs).
