Job description

Many lecturers at VU support their lectures with short educational videos, or knowledge clips. In the Pop-up studio of the VU Education Lab, we help lecturers create these videos. Our student assistants advise the lecturers beforehand, operate the equipment during and deliver the videos neatly after shooting. For that team, we are looking for reinforcements!

Your duties
  • you prepare teachers for the recording session through an intake interview. You explain how we work and give advice and some do's and dont's for a smooth presentation
  • you receive and guide the teacher in the studio during the recording session
  • you take care of the technical side of the recording session, including operating the camera, microphone and autocue
  • afterwards, you trim the videos neatly and deliver files that are ready for placement on, for example, Canvas or a video platform

Requirements

  • you are enrolled as a student at VU Amsterdam or at another Dutch university
  • you are handy with audio and video equipment, or would like to learn this
  • you have experience with the basics of video editing, or would like to learn this
  • you are able to be present on the VU campus for one or two fixed half-days every teaching period
  • you enjoy advising lecturers on the form of their knowledge clip and presentation. You dare to be critical but have a good sense of how to advise in a constructive way

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

  • a salary € 2.618,00 (SA) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Student-assistant. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for at least 0.2 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 1 year.

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
  • 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus
  • a wide range of sports facilities which staff may use at a modest charge
  • optional model for designing a personalized benefits package
