Job description

Data management, especially registering, unlocking and cleaning, securing, and archiving and/or sharing research data and working with big data, is of great and increasing importance for the research groups from the departments of Cognitive Neuroscience, Human Genetics, and Psychiatry. Several of them work together as part of the ‘Multifactorial Diseases Research Lab’ and are part of several international collaborations on brain function as well as psychiatric traits and conditions. For this work, our lab is looking for support from a data steward. Are you our new Data Steward?

The data steward manages the various existing data collections as well as supports new data collections, e.g. by writing and updating data access protocols/forms and by communicating with ongoing external data sets' managers. You support researchers in the development of project proposals for ethics review, builds databases for new data collections, handles sharing requests for existing data, also liaising with legal departments of Radboudumc and Radboud University for the relevant contracts, and develops FAIRification of existing data collections.

Because of your background in MRI, you will also assists researchers with their neuroimaging analyses. In addition, you support researchers with project and grant applications with regard to data management paragraphs and forms a link with e.g. the Radboudumc Technology Center Data Stewardship to stay informed about the most recent developments in the management of human data.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • FAIRification of existing data collections.
  • Facilitate sharing of existing data with researchers nationally and internationally.
  • Manage inclusion and harmonization of data collections from international collaborations for the purpose of mega-analysis.
  • Manage ethics approvals and informed consent updates of existing data collections.
  • Prepare data sets for analysis, including cleaning and processing of data; run updates of brain segmentation algorithms.
  • Support researchers with study design, data management and the medical-ethical assessment policy of Radboud University Medical Center.
  • Support researchers in drawing up data management plans for project and grant applications.
  • Being and staying informed of local but also (inter)national developments in the field of data management, such as the local Digital Research Environment (DRE) and the FAIR principles, and translating these to the own situation.
  • Optional task: support organization of international summer schools and conferences on neuroimaging and genetics data science topics.

Requirements

Our new data steward is a dynamic and enthusiastic colleague with an applied university (HBO) working and thinking level and proficient in English and Dutch reading, writing, and speaking. You have an affinity with data, ICT and research methods. Research experience is desirable (e.g. proven with a Bachelor or Master degree). Experience with neuroimaging data is an advantage.

You will be employed by the Cognitive Neuroscience department of the Radboud University Medical Center and work closely together with researchers there as well as those at the departments of Human Genetics and Psychiatry. At the department of Cognitive Neuroscience it is our goal to have a significant impact on health, prevention, and innovation of care.
