PhD Researcher in Management Accounting and Control

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Ph.D. researcher interested in management accounting and corporate culture research and eager to apply data analytics methods to help us carry out our mission.

Your Mission:

  • Pursue your dissertation: Participate in the combined Vlerick-KU Leuven Ph.D. track, while working at the leading European Business School (Vlerick) and pursuing your doctoral degree at the internationally renowned university (KU Leaven), and profit from supervision and close collaboration in a strong team with senior faculty affiliated with Vlerick, KU Leuven, and the University of Groningen and with an extensive global network of top-notch scholars.
  • Conduct research: Work on the ARF research project in management accounting and control, looking into the role organizational cultural control (specifically corporate values) plays in fostering organizational resilience. In addition, collaborate with faculty and researchers at Vlerick and other top academic institutions on other research projects in the management accounting field. Research projects involve either archival or survey designs, structured/unstructured data, and require knowledge of advanced data analytics methods.
  • Collaborate in a team: Work closely with other research project members as well as members of your direct team at Vlerick.
  • Develop: Profit from research collaborations with many renowned international academics in our network.
  • Become a member of the scientific community: Participate in well-recognized regional and international workshops and conferences and present and discuss your research with scholars around the world.
  • Teach and contribute: Provide support for teaching activities and teaching innovation.
  • Build up and apply skills: Build conceptual, interpersonal, and methodological skills over the course of your employment. The envisioned project would require
  • Share: Disseminate findings to an academic and business audience, and to society at large, including academic papers, reports, articles, etc.

Requirements

You:

  • Are passionate about conducting research with impact.
  • Have obtained a master’s degree in business and economics or related, with a strong interest in management accounting and above-average academic performance.
  • Have experience with data collection and analyzing data using quantitative research methods.
  • Have great analytical skills and are digitally savvy.
  • Feel comfortable using different statistical/programming tools (Python, R, and/or Stata).
  • Are fluent in English, both verbal and written.
  • Can work autonomously but you are also a good team player.
  • Have a proactive attitude and great writing skills.
  • Will work on our campus in Brussels, Leuven, or Ghent.
