Are you looking for an academic career in an inspiring and cohesive department aiming for high quality research, teaching, and societal impact? If so, we want to draw your attention to a vacant position for an Assistant Professor in the department of Human Resource Studies. We are particularly keen to recruit an Assistant Professor with expertise in Strategic/macro level HRM and advanced and innovative research techniques.
Working as an Assistant Professor in the department will involve developing your own research activities in line with the department’s research programmes and in collaboration with members of our department and other TSB departments. More particularly, Assistant Professors are part of one or two research labs and conduct research related to the themes of these lab(s). It also involves coordinating at least one course, teaching in about two additional courses of 6 ECTS in our Bachelor or Master program, mentoring one Bachelor group, and supervising about 10 Bachelor and/or Master theses.
The Department of Human Resource Studies is a well-established department with a strong reputation in academia. The department is well-known for its expertise in taking a balanced approach to strategic HRM. Research within the department is organized in four research labs on these core themes: 1) Aligning strategic HRM, wellbeing, and performance, 2) Health and well-being across working life, 3) Positive organizations and development, and 4) Inclusive HRM. We aim for scientific (e.g., high quality publications) and societal impact on these themes. The department’s research program is part of TSB’s Herbert Simon Research Institute through which we collaborate multidisciplinary with other TSB departments on the themes of adaptive societies, organizations, and workers; healthy life span; personalized prevention and care; and more recently digitalization. The Tilburg Experience Sampling Center is part of this institute. TSB also aims to invest in large datasets at the team and organizational level.
The Department of Human Resource Studies is the only department in the Netherlands that offers both a Bachelor and Master’s (including an extended Master) program in HR Studies. Our Master program has two inflow moments with a total inflow of about 125 students. The Master’s program is taught in English and the Dutch Bachelor program offers an international track in “People Management”. In our Master’s program, we offer electives that build on the expertise of our staff. Members of the department also participate in three multidisciplinary programs together with other TSB departments in which we teach HRS-related topics: the two-year Research Master program “Individual Differences and Assessment”, the Master track “Positive Psychology and Wellbeing”, and the Bachelor track “Global Management of Social Issues”. We also teach a number of courses on HRM at the Tilburg School of Economics and Management. These are mostly taught in English.
The department offers a stimulating and supportive work environment and challenges its members to realize their ambitions and potential, building on their strengths. Our team of inspiring academics includes Karina van de Voorde (Strategic HRM/People Analytics), Sasa Batistic (Relational HRM/People Analytics), Marianne van Woerkom (Strengths-based approach), Dorien Kooij (Successful aging at work), Marc van Veldhoven (Work, health, and well-being), Rob Poell (HRD), Brigitte Kroon (evidence-based HRM), and Irmgard Borghouts (Inclusive HRM) among others.
