Job description

As an entry-level Marketing Data Analyst, your primary responsibilities revolve around addressing operational data challenges within the Communication and Marketing (C&M) department. You play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of data and establishing clear and unambiguous data definitions. Your role extends from the inception to the completion of projects, focusing on extracting meaningful insights from C&M data. This involves setting up data pipelines and ensuring effective data visualization.

In this position, there is ample opportunity for you to initiate and implement your own ideas to analyse our marketing data. You will be an integral part of the Powered by Data team within the C&M department at VU Amsterdam. This multidisciplinary team brings together various expertise with the shared goal of advancing data-driven practices within C&M and the wider VU Amsterdam.

Your tasks
  • End-to-End Insights Generation. Work collaboratively on end-to-end processes to extract actionable insights from communication and marketing data. Analyse data trends and patterns to provide valuable recommendations for optimising marketing strategies.
  • Data Pipeline Design and Implementation. Design and implement efficient data pipelines to streamline the collection, processing, and integration of marketing data. Ensure data flows seamlessly from various sources to enable timely and accurate analysis.
  • PowerBI Data Visualisation. Utilise PowerBI to create visually compelling and informative dashboards that offer insights into the performance of digital channels. Present data findings in a visually accessible manner for stakeholders to facilitate decision-making.
  • Ideation and Implementation for Enhanced Analysis. Propose innovative ideas and strategies to enhance the overall analysis of marketing data. Implement and iterate on new approaches to extract deeper insights and improve data-driven decision-making.
  • Data Quality Assurance Management. Collaborate with the CRM marketing team to manage datasets and ensure the overall quality of operational data. Implement and monitor quality assurance measures to enhance the accuracy and reliability of marketing data.
  • Data Definition Standardisation and Consistency. Establish and maintain clear and unambiguous definitions for key data elements used in marketing analytics. Maintain an organised overview of different data definitions and ensure consistency across the dataset.

  • Education at HBO/WO level
  • Knowledge and affinity with processing datasets
  • Knowledge of data visualisation tools (PowerBI, Google Looker studio) is an advantage
  • Good proficiency in Dutch and English
  • Meticulous with an eye for detail

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 6 months.

  • a salary of minimum € 2.693,00 (Scale 7) and maximum € 3.636,00 (Scale 7) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Communications Officer 2. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for at least 0.5 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 6 months. Afterwards, the possibility of expansion exists.

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
