We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about science education, with a profile which suits a focus on Academic and Professional Skills within the Pharmaceutical Sciences curriculum.

Job description

As a Junior Lecturer you will support the following programmes: BSc Pharmaceutical Sciences and MSc Drug Discovery Sciences. You will be involved in various teaching-related, and organizational activities in both programmes. Academic and professional skills in the programmes focus on oral and written presentations, studying and professional skills, use of software & statistics, and preparation for the job market.

You will be encouraged to work on academic innovations and to build a portfolio in the context of education as a preparation for various career paths. To this end, you will acquire a basic qualification in teaching (‘BKO’) and other training. Moreover, you will work in a team together with other junior lecturers within the section of Innovations in Health and Life Sciences as well as with staff members of the Department of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Your duties
As a junior lecturer you will have a variety of duties depending on your expertise and interest, such as
  • contribute to several BSc and MSc courses related to academic and professional skills
  • contribute to promotional activities (Outreach) for the programmes
  • assist in the planning and design of academic skill-related learning paths
  • assist in the coordination and administrative tasks of the programmes
  • contribute to innovation projects to further improve teaching practices

Requirements

The candidate must have completed a life science master or a master related to education or pedagogy. Affinity with, or an interest in, the field of pharmaceutical sciences is required.

In addition, the candidate should
  • a proven interest in education
  • affinity with the field of pharmaceutical sciences and drug discovery
  • preferably be fluent in Dutch and English
  • have strong oral and written communication skills
  • possess good organizational skills
  • be proactive and able to work independently

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 4 year.

  • a salary of minimum € 3.226,00 (Scale 10) and maximum € 5.090,00 (Scale 10) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Teacher 4. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for at least 0.8 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 4 year.

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
