Job description

The department of Developmental Psychology is looking for a part-time postdoc (50%) for the project “More than the sum of their parts: exposing and promoting creative problem-solving talents of multicultural youth at school” funded by the NWA (Dutch Science Agenda).

Your job
This project aims to guide adolescents and teachers to viewing multicultural background and experiences as a source of strength, and then test how this strength-based perspective influences:
  1. adolescents’ creative potential; and
  2. teachers’ reactions to adolescents’ ideas.

In the position of postdoc you are responsible for data collection among multicultural youth in the Randstad, which includes contacting schools and communication of our findings (e.g. MultiTal3nt). You will also carry out activities like questionnaire and task development, data coding and analysis. You will be involved in supervising student assistants, organisation of project team meetings and writing research articles. The project team includes Dr Sheida Novin, Dr Matthijs Baas, Dr Willem Frankenhuis, Dr Evelyn Kroesbergen, and Dr Claire Stevenson.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated, open-minded, and pro-active candidate with the following qualifications:
  • a PhD, obtained or close to obtaining, in (subdisciplines of) Psychology;
  • strong organisational skills;
  • an open, constructive, and transparent communication style, and strong motivation to work with other researchers, practitioners in education, and (multicultural) adolescents;
  • excellent oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English.

Conditions of employment

We offer:
  • a temporary position for 13 months on this project;
  • a working week of 20 hours and a full-time gross salary between €4,332 and €5,551 (scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities (CAO));
  • 8% holiday bonus and 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
