The position

As a research IT consultant, you work in collaboration with researchers to develop customised sustainable IT solutions. In addition, you provide (proactive) advice on issues at the interface of the department and IT, including a pioneering role in setting up innovative (specific) solutions. You are part of a multidisciplinary team in which you share your knowledge and expertise. This enables you to facilitate researchers at TU/e in conducting their research. You work for a department which fosters multidisciplinary research requiring both experimental and computational methods; and you deliver on the needs of that research, so that scientists can focus on their innovative work. You will also have the opportunity to build up an extensive network and to specialize in relevant research areas.

Requirements

  • You have a minimum education of a Master's degree or PhD degree, with several years of experience with conducting research, and you are able to effectively communicate with scientific staff;
  • You actively maintain relationships with customers and suppliers;
  • You identify the wishes and needs of our researchers, to proactively provide customized IT solutions;
  • You are a pleasant collaboration partner for both scientists and internal services, thereby mediating between organization and innovation;
  • You initiate action to innovate existing products and services;
  • You have affinity with one or more of the following techniques: High Performance Computing, research data management, data science, machine learning or other artificial intelligence (AI) related topics;
  • Experience with basic Linux system administration to support local questions ( RedHat / Ubuntu) is a bonus;
  • Solid hardware knowledge for advising our researchers on setup and purchase is considered an advantage.

A monthly salary of minimum €2.960,- to maximum €5.439,- for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (scale 10 or 11 collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities).
