Employer

Erasmus University Rotterdam

Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) is an internationally oriented university with a strong social orientation in its education and research, as expressed in our mission ‘Creating positive societal impact’. EUR is home to 3.700 academics and professionals and almost 33.000 students from more than 140 countries. Everything we do, we do under the credo The Erasmian Way – Making Minds Matter. We’re global citizens, connecting, entrepreneurial, open-minded, and socially involved. These Erasmian Values function as our internal compass and create EUR’s distinctive and recognizable profile. From these values, with a broad perspective and with an eye for diversity, different backgrounds and opinions, our employees work closely together to solve societal challenges from the dynamic and cosmopolitan city of Rotterdam. Thanks to the high quality and positive societal impact of our research and education, EUR can compete with the top European universities. www.eur.nl.

The General Management Directorate

The General Management Directorate (Algemene Bestuursdienst, ABD) is the central staff organisation responsible for the organisation and support of EUR’s policy and administration at the institutional level. ABD supports the Executive Board in fulfilling its responsibilities with regard to the quality, accessibility and financing of EUR’s education and research programmes. ABD handles the joint design of integrated policy, ensures the timely submission of policy within decision-making procedures and the implementation of the adopted policy measures and constantly monitors and evaluates developments in the interest of further improvement. ABD comprises the departments of Academic Affairs (AZ), Corporate Planning & Control (CPC), Administrative Affairs (BZ), Legal Affairs (JZ) and Strategy Office (SO). The independent university publication Erasmus Magazine also falls under ABD in organisational terms.

The management directorate is headed by the Director of the General Management Directorate, who also serves as Secretary of the Executive Board.

Department

The Sustainability Program resorts under the Strategy Office (SO), that supports the EUR in its transition to an impact-oriented university and works together with the entire organization to achieve the strategic objectives. The Strategy Office is a policy department that, on the one hand, is concerned with (supporting) the integral implementation of the strategy and, on the other hand, provides capacity to provide the board and the organization with strategic advice on a variety of dossiers. This happens in close collaboration with other central policy departments, the faculties and institutes and support services (which anchor and implement the EUR strategy) and the project leaders and academic leads, who lead the strategic projects. The SO functions as a spider in the web to realize the strategic ambitions in collaboration with the entire community.
