Job description

In this way, we enable the teachers to develop forms of education that optimally help transfer the specialist knowledge of lecturers to the students. In that educational design, the student is always central.

Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has been a core part of the TU/e since it was founded in 1956. The department focuses on providing the industry with scientifically educated and application-driven engineers, is a breeding ground for leading international research, and collaborates closely with industry. It offers a Bachelor's program, four Master's programs, and consists of several research groups that focus on long-term, general, system-oriented research. The crux of the department is devoted to designing, analyzing, improving and manufacturing new products and processes, as well as the materials needed for this. The department is fully discipline-oriented and is structured along disciplines - such as mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, control, systems and design to name but a few. Application areas such as nano- and micro-scale technology and automotive technology are pursued in different discipline groups as a joint effort.

Are you the trusted innovative educational developer with a well-founded vision who functions optimally in a matrix of actors? Are you a team player with a service-oriented attitude that will share insights, didactic knowledge, tools, and experiences throughout the organization?

For the department of Mechanical Engineering, you will be responsible for advising teachers on best practices in instructional methods, assessment and evaluation. For instance, you will be contributing to a project that supports self-directed learning of Mechanical Engineering students. The ability to carefully listen to our teachers and to integrate their input in the implementation of strategies and projects is a fundamental aspect to be successful in this position. For example, preparing info sessions with important subjects to our teachers, looking for literature/ methodologies that could help them with their challenges etc. In addition to supporting the teachers, you will cooperate with program coordinators, the departmental manager of Education and Students Affairs and the chain of (departmental) teacher supporters.

Can you collaborate with teachers by guiding them to shape an optimal blend of learning forms for effective learning for students in a high-quality engineering education?

Can you switch roles from advising educational strategies to supporting teachers with hands-on tasks?

Will you, together with others in our university, be keeping up with ICTE developments and giving that extra boost to the range of possibilities and solutions that the department Mechanical Engineering and the entire chain of teacher support officers can offer our teachers?

Do you tackle educational innovations on a project basis and only let go when a new success has been achieved?

Do you like pioneering and sharing experiences with the community?
