Job description

Do you understand the importance of science for our world, both now and in the future? Are you a creative team player with exceptional skills in successfully developing and executing internal and external communication projects? Do you enjoy a variety of tasks? Apply now for the position of all-round communications advisor for Erasmus Research Services (ERS)!

Job description
As a communications advisor within Erasmus Research Services (ERS), you can shape the future of research (and support) by developing effective campaigns and content. Whether it's writing a catchy blog post, creating engaging social media content, facilitating a brainstorming session, or setting up a user-friendly website – all these strategies you can use to achieve this goal.

Your mission? Translating our organization's vision into tangible, actionable communication strategies and content. Through active engagement and inspiring stories, you will bridge the gap between science and the world, ensuring that the value of our research is understood and can have an impact. You will also ensure that the support offered by ERS in the areas of grant support, the promotion of open and responsible science, or the promotion of connections between academia and society, is effectively communicated within the organization.

As a communications consultant, you will have a varied and challenging range of tasks aimed at:
  1. Strategy: You translate questions from the management team or ERS colleagues into creative, result-oriented communication and content strategies. This includes developing a social media strategy around sustainable fashion to find the right partners, such as fashion innovators and policymakers; setting up an internal campaign for the launch of the Research Support Portal; or creating an internal content strategy to invite and involve scientists to open science workshops.
  2. Content: As an expert in research (support) communication, you create, coordinate, and manage content for research channels (website, intranet, and social media). You’ll spend about 50% of your time creating engaging content for targeted audiences and channels, including writing, editing, and visual content development. You ensure clear messaging and keep our channels functional, user-friendly, accessible, and up to date.
  3. Coordination and guidance: You will work in a team of 5 communication professionals. Together with the management team and your colleague communications advisor you coordinate the communication activities within ERS. In addition, you will supervise two communication staff members within ERS. On a project basis, you can also be responsible for managing communication agencies or external project managers.

Collaboration will be your foundation. You will work hand in hand with colleagues from ERS, researchers, communication experts and research support staff throughout the university. In doing so, you will understand the nuances of individual needs, and offer insightful and concrete advice.
