The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is an internationally oriented university specialized in engineering, science & technology. We are known for our great scientific impact and development of technological innovations. Next to the nine departments and four institutes, there is a central TU/e organization to provide innovative support services in the field of strategic partnerships, research support and knowledge valorisation. The department of Electrical Engineering has been working for years with a large team for project support in diverse rolls and on different levels. The central and decentral teams highly contribute to the TU/e realizing intensive strategic cooperation with industry, development and acquisition of innovative research projects and support and guidance of high-tech start-ups and spin-offs of the TU/e.

The faculty of Electrical Engineering is hiring extra project support or project development officers to support the growing activities related to acquisition of research funding, proposal/project development and the execution of these projects.  In this position you support researchers in finding interesting funding opportunities, coordinating with (inter)national consortia and funding agencies and help developing competitive project proposals. Throughout the project lifecycle, you work closely together with EE colleagues from Finance, Legal, HR, Data Management and Ethics, as well as other project development officers, program managers and researchers within EE and from other departments.

What are we expecting from you as a Project Development Officer?

We want to hire several new colleagues in this field of expertise, can be junior, can be senior. The tasks and characteristics mentioned are broadly formulated, we do not expect you to fit all of what we seek. What we seek is a good match and willingness to grow in expertise. You work closely together with the researchers.

Important tasks and characteristics in this field:

As a project support or project development officer you have a good understanding of the current and future developments in both the National and European funding landscape and are able to match opportunities to the expertise and research interests of researchers in the department. You proactively support researchers in the acquisition of research projects. You build and extend your network of internal and external stakeholders, you support developing of and participating in project initiatives, you help build consortia, you support proposal writing and can apply persuasive writing to maximize proposal chances and you keep an eye on overall proposal quality. You support the administrative side of project development, including navigating the grant rules, setting up budgets (together with Finance), handling the submission processes and support contract negotiations (together with TU/e's legal team) when grants get awarded. In addition, developing and maintaining a network of relevant regional and national stakeholders is paramount.

Requirements

  • A masters degree (or equivalent university degree);
  • You have proven expertise on acquiring research funding and developing new projects and know the rules and regulations imposed by the various funding organizations;
  • You are a team player in cooperation with researchers, support staff as well as other departments, universities and companies;
  • You have excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English;
  • You are goal-oriented, proactive, organized, hands-on, reliable and considered a recognized sparring partner. You are flexible and can work under deadline pressure;
  • You know how science works (at least MSc. in preferably a technical discipline) and know what drives researchers and you speak their language.

The salary is in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities and depending on education, knowledge and work experience the salary scale is 10/11/12 with a minimum in scale 10 of € 3.226,= and maximum in scale 12 of € 6.737,= (CAO-NU).

We offer a one-year contract, with prospect of permanent position.  

An attractive package of fringe benefits, including excellent work facilities, extra holiday allowance 8% in May, end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December and 41 holidays per year.
