Our IT department, consisting of 200 employees, is responsible for providing a modern ICT environment for education and research. We work in multidisciplinary teams to tackle current challenges in the areas of digitalization, self-service, security, data management, high-performance computing, and cloud strategy. As such, there are plenty of development and career opportunities available for specialists at various levels.

You will be based in a multidisciplinary team specialized in supporting the Library of WUR. The team consists of six developers, a scrum master, and a product owner. We want to expand the team with a software engineer interested in data engineering


You will have the following tasks and responsibilities:
  • Develop, configure, and maintain the Library applications to meet organizational needs;
  • Write and maintain clear, concise documentation for systems and processes;
  • Develop code, scripts, and tests to enhance functionality and reliability;
  • Lead deployment efforts and manage continuous integration and deployment pipelines;
  • Collaborate with researchers and other IT groups within the organization to gather requirements and deliver solutions that support research activities.
  • Engage with third-party vendors and partners to enhance platform capabilities;
  • You extract data from several sources via diverse patterns (different types of batch processes, different types of API);
  • You implement security controls and mechanisms to manage data quality.

Requirements

Of course you have knowledge of designing, writing, implementing and documenting reliable, reusable and sustainable software that meets the necessary technological, ethical and legal requirements; Further more:
  • You have a bachelor degree in IT or a similar field;
  • You have worked in a complex IT organization and are familiar with the agile way of working;
  • You have at least 3 years of experience as a software engineer;
  • You are familiar with PHP/Javascript working in a Linux environment;
  • You have at least three years of experience in scripting languages such as Python and Bash and understanding of SQL and database management;
  • You read and speak both Dutch and English fluently.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 3.088 and € 5.035 for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10). Additionally, a contract for 0.8 FTE can be discussed.
