Job description

We study the biology of cancer, specifically colorectal cancer. We aim to understand different subtypes of colorectal cancer and determine differences in cell death resistance, metabolic wiring and migratory capacity. Models used are based on primary tumor material, organoids, mouse models and cell lines.
  • You will study the sensitivity of a series of CRC model systems for compounds that regulate de novo pyrimidine synthesis;
  • You will use high end imaging technology to study the impact of distinct extracellular matrices on tumor progression and cell cycle regulation;
  • You will be involved in the study of mitochondrial metabolism during EMT.

Requirements

  • You are a graduated research technician with at least an hbo level educational background;
  • Experience in cell biological and imaging techniques are preferred skills as is proficiency in English;
  • You're a teamplayer, because you will be part of a team and working together with PhD students and postdocs frequently;
  • You enjoy challenges in research and you're not afraid to tackle novel techniques or approaches;
  • Flexibility with regard to working hours and preserverance is required to enjoy this position.

The Center for Experimental and Molecular Medicine (CEMM) is a laboratory within Amsterdam UMC (location AMC) fully devoted to interdisciplinary fundamental and clinical research, existing of 2 main topics: Infectious disease and Oncology with a total of around 150 researches like doctors, PhD students , Research technicians etc.

Important to note is that the Oncology part of the department will be shifting to Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc in January 2025.
