Within the section Forensic Psychology, we are looking for an assistant professor with a passion for research, teaching, and applied issues

Job Description:
The section Forensic Psychology is part of the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience (https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/about-um/faculties/psychology-and-neuroscience/research/research-groups-fpn/forensic-psychology). As assistant professor in the section Forensic Psychology, you will have the following responsibilities:
  • You carry out high quality research in forensic psychology or related disciplines, such as legal psychology;
  • You teach and supervise students in the 2-year Master program Forensic Psychology, the 1-year Master Legal Psychology, and in the Bachelor Psychology;
  • You publish your research in (inter)national scientific journals and present findings at national and international scientific meetings;
  • You supervise research at the bachelor, master, and PhD level;
  • You make efforts to attract external and internal research funding;
  • You have experience with and endorse the principles of open science;
  • You have a strong proactive and collaborative approach;
  • You make positive contributions to the organization and cooperation within the section and faculty;
  • You have excellent communication (oral and written) skills in English and Dutch (or are willing to learn Dutch if you are not yet fluent in the language).

Job Requirements:
  • You have obtained a PhD degree in forensic psychology, legal psychology, or a related discipline;
  • You have teaching experience in forensic psychology and/or legal psychology;
  • You hold a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ), or are willing to acquire this qualification in the near future;
  • You have an affinity with problem-based learning;
  • You have a record of attracting research funding;
  • You have good communication, social and organizational skills;
  • Practical experience as a forensic/legal psychologist, as an expert for the court, in forensic-clinical practice or in another applied role will be considered favorably;
  • The preferred starting date of this project is 1 September 2024.

What we offer
As an Assistant professor at Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:
  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 11 according to UFO profile Assistant Professor, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €4332,00 and €5929,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 1,0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.Your development goals will also allow you to grow further to the position of assistant professor level 1.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
