EUR's UNIC team is looking for 2 Student Board Representatives for the period 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025. Preference is given to one Dutch student and one international student.

Erasmus University Rotterdam is busy developing and implementing a new international initiative: a European University. Together with nine other universities, Erasmus University has established the European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition (UNIC), a network offering a variety of international educational experiences with the goal of promoting student mobility and inclusion. UNIC believes that all students should have the opportunity to participate in an international experience, no matter what you are studying or how busy your schedule, UNIC strives to provide a variety of educational and research opportunities.

Being part of the UNIC Student Board means representing Erasmus University internationally and providing a student perspective when advising on UNIC activities. As a board representative, you will meet monthly with representatives from partner universities to discuss, advise and agree on university-wide plans. In addition, as a UNIC Student Board member, you will be part of the UNIC project team and will and will work closely with academics, policy advisors, project managers and researchers.

Your duties and responsibilities:
  1. Represent Erasmus University Rotterdam at UNIC:

  • Be a member of the UNIC Student Board.
  • Attend meetings with the UNIC Student Board, the EUR team of UNIC, the European UNIC team and substantive working groups.
  • Represent the university at the UNIC Council.
  • Attend and represent UNIC at national and international events and conferences.
  • Cooperate with various student organizations at EUR. Collect and represent the opinions of Erasmus University students in UNIC activities.

  1. Planning & Organization:

  • Assist the UNIC Core Team with administrative and organizational tasks.
  • Assist in planning and organizing UNIC events for EUR students and staff.
  • Plan, prepare and provide technical support for online and hybrid meetings.
  • Assist the UNIC Core Team with various writing tasks, including setting up emails, preparing documents and creating content on UNIC-related topics.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who:
  • Is enrolled as a EUR student and is familiar with campus culture.
  • Demonstrates interest in education and research policy.
  • Demonstrated affinity for student participation.
  • Values international experiences.
  • Is willing to work 15 hours per week.
  • Is comfortable speaking in public.
  • Possesses an open, friendly demeanor and is good at maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Thrives in collaboration with other motivated students.
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and in writing.
  • Is willing to travel occasionally with the EUR team to partner universities in Europe (1-3 times).
  • Has a positive attitude, proactive approach to problems and solution-oriented thinking.

Conditions of employment

We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).

The start date of this position is 01-SEP-2024 and you will be based at Campus Woudestein. This position is for 0.04 fte (15 hours per week). The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 2.618 to a maximum of € 2.846 gross per month Scale Student Assistant on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is entered into for the duration of 1 year.

The General Management Directorate

The General Management Directorate (Algemene Bestuursdienst, ABD) is the central staff organisation responsible for the organisation and support of EUR’s policy and administration at the institutional level. ABD supports the Executive Board in fulfilling its responsibilities with regard to the quality, accessibility and financing of EUR’s education and research programmes. ABD handles the joint design of integrated policy, ensures the timely submission of policy within decision-making procedures and the implementation of the adopted policy measures and constantly monitors and evaluates developments in the interest of further improvement. ABD comprises the departments of Academic Affairs (AZ), Corporate Planning & Control (CPC), Administrative Affairs (BZ), Legal Affairs (JZ) and Strategy Office (SO). The independent university publication Erasmus Magazine also falls under ABD in organisational terms.

The management directorate is headed by the Director of the General Management Directorate, who also serves as Secretary of the Executive Board.
