Job description

The education coordinator pre-experience programmes supports the faculty members, academic directors, and head of the academic department and acts as the linking pin between teaching faculty and programme management. The coordinator ensures that educational information (course catalogue entries, course syllabi, timetables, exams, thesis trajectory) of the bachelor, premaster, and master courses taught by instructors of the department is available on time and complies with quality requirements, policies, and regulations. The education coordinator has frequent contact with teaching faculty, education services teams, and students. The education coordinator is a member of the education services department but is seconded to the respective academic department. The education coordinator reports both to a team manager in education services and to the head of the academic department. Job description
  • Supporting the preparation of the academic year, e.g. by:
  • Collecting and providing information/ updates about the department’s curricula, courses, electives, instructors, credits, and student eligibility criteria
  • Ensuring the timely delivery of complete and accurate course catalogue entries for all courses of the programme
  • Actively communicating any ad-hoc changes related to courses, instructors, assessment, or student enrolment numbers to education services
  • Supporting the Academic Directors (ADs) of the department in the preparation and conduct of the programme kick-off activities
  • Supporting the department’s elective information sessions
  • Ensuring timely and complete delivery of scheduling requests to the schedulers and keep track of the timetables of the department’s courses
  • Supporting education delivery, e.g. by:
  • Organizing alignment and best-practice sharing between the programme’s instructors
  • Ensuring timely delivery of syllabi for all courses
  • Ensuring that all Canvas pages are of good quality and accessible for students on time
  • Supporting instructors in the creation and management of student groups
  • Ensuring that course-level support is provided; where applicable, managing TAs
  • Ensuring that education material and teaching cases used in the department’s courses are registered in a complete, correct, and timely manner
  • Organizing technical support for instructors in the classroom where required
  • Supporting assessment, e.g. by:
  • Supporting the creation and documentation of the programme assessment plan
  • Ensuring that assessment policies and guidelines are observed
  • Ensuring timely, accurate, and confidential logging of exam questions for all courses in relevant exam software
  • Supporting instructors with grade registration and ensure that grades are registered in line with policies and regulations
  • Supporting the organisation of the exam perusal
  • Supporting thesis coordination, e.g. by:
  • Helping with the allocation of thesis coaches and co-readers
  • Developing the thesis trajectory from student perspective (e.g., identifying development needs and developing resources for Canvas)
  • Resource coordination, e.g. by:
  • Tracking and planning teaching and teaching support to identify resource needs, and creating a longer-term resource plan
  • Coordinating recruiting, training and contracts, sometimes with the department secretary, for teaching assistants (TAs)
  • Working with ADs to ensure that teaching resource needs are met
  • Working with ADs and heads of department to create long-term resource plans for the department

Requirements

  • Higher education degree
  • Excellent command of English (minimum CEFR level C1, speaking and writing), basic command of Dutch (CEFR level A2) and willingness to improve
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with the MS Office suite (especially Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and ideally Teams and SharePoint)
  • Ability to handle multiple stakeholders, processes, and projects in parallel
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Customer-friendly, optimistic, and strong problem-solving attitude
  • Affinity with international higher education.

Conditions of employment

We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).

The start date of this position is 01-SEP-2024 and you will be based in Rotterdam School of Management (RSM). This position is for 0.8 fte - 1.0 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3.226 to a maximum of € 5.090 gross per month Scale 10 on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is entered into for the duration of (contractduur) and can be converted into a permanent contract if performance is good and the organizational circumstances remain unchanged.
