We are seeking a motivated PhD candidate to join our recently started Horizon Europe GEMINI project (https://dth-gemini.eu). This project aims to deliver validated multi-organ and multi-scale computational models for treatment decision support and improved fundamental understanding of acute strokes, both ischaemic and haemorrhagic. We aim to demonstrate the added benefit of these computational models in personalised disease management.
About the Project
We are looking for a motivated researcher- with an engineering background- who will be working on the intersection of biomechanics, computational modelling, and personalised medicene. The candidate will contribute to our innovative projects as part of a leading international consortium (GEMINI). As a key member of our collaborative network, the successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to engage closely with renowned experts and professionals from diverse backgrounds. The candidate will be taking the lead in various projects relevant to the GEMINI with a main focus on multiscale thrombus modelling.
About the Research Group
You will work in the CardioVascular Biomechanics Group (https://www.tudelft.nl/me/over/afdelingen/biomechanical-engineering/research/cardiovascular-biomechanics), a research group within the BioMechanical Engineering Department, under the supervision of Dr. Behrooz Fereidoonnezhad (b.fereidoonnezhad@tudelft.nl). Our research activities mainly focus on better understanding the structure and biomechanical functioning of the cardiovascular system and its components in health and disease, aiming to improve prevention, diagnosis, and prognosis.

Fixed-term contract: 4 years.
Doctoral candidates will be offered a 4-year period of employment in principle, but in the form of 2 employment contracts. An initial 1,5 year contract with an official go/no go progress assessment within 15 months. Followed by an additional contract for the remaining 2,5 years assuming everything goes well and performance requirements are met.
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, increasing from € 2770 per month in the first year to € 3539 in the fourth year. As a PhD candidate you will be enrolled in the TU Delft Graduate School.
