We are looking for 2 laboratory technicians to functionally investigate the anti-tumour immune responses. More in detail:

Project 1: led by dr. Marieke Fransen
Systemic immune responses during tumour development.

In this project you will investigate the immune activation status of blood and tumour draining lymph nodes from lung cancer patients and representative mouse models, using ex vivo techniques such as cell culture and flow cytometry.

Project 2: led by dr. Febe van Maldegem
Spatial multiplex immunohistochemistry of lung cancer

In this project you will be pivotal in supporting the core work for the SPACETIME project, in which multiplex immunohistochemistry and other multiplex single cell technologies will be used to characterise lung cancer tumour material from human patients and mouse models.

We are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals with a strong academic background in life science. Ideal candidates will possess:

• A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (biomedical sciences, biotechnology, Biologie en Medisch Laboratoriumonderzoek, etc).
• Willingness to work with animal models (Art. 9 possession and previous experience is an advantage).
• Practical laboratory experience with cell culture, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry or single cell technologies is an advantage.
• Good communication skills in Dutch and/or English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in an international team and adhere with strict deadlines.
• A “can-do” attitude.

Amsterdam UMC

You will be housed in the Pulmonary diseases (Fransen) or Molecular and Cellular Biology and Immunology (van Maldegem) department, dedicated to scientific research in an international setting at Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc.

You will closely collaborate with the department of medical oncology and pathology. We work with large collections of patient material from different clinical studies and serially bio-banked samples stored at the liquid biopsy center and the pathology department of the Cancer Center Amsterdam (CCA). Finally, you will collaborate internationally, with research groups from 14 European universities and research institutes as part of the SPACETIME consortium.
