We are looking for a new colleague to support us in the transition to a carbon-free built environment.

Job description

There are over 1,000 researchers at TU Delft working on the energy transition. Expertise ranges from topics related to social innovation, policy and management, financial aspects, and technical aspects of the urban energy transition. The Urban Energy Institute aims to activate this network. Our main aim is to support a rapid, just and equitable transition to a carbon-free built environment. We focus on:

  • Supporting the development of new-multidisciplinary projects with partners at TU Delft.
  • Bridging between research and practice – organizing events to share our knowledge, both within the university, and with stakeholders more broadly.
  • Publicize important results emerging from TU Delft.

The Urban Energy Institute is looking for a project leader.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Strategy and operations

  • Coordinate the development of long term plans, and oversee day-to-day activities that work toward the mission of the Urban Energy Institute (our mission is to support a rapid, just and equitable transition to a carbon-free built environment).
  • Maintain oversight of the network and be the contact point for internal and external communications and initiatives
  • Laise between the institute and other key networks within TU Delft: the College van Bestuur, Delft Energy Initiative, Delft Climate Action Programme.
  • Manage hiring and training of student assistants.

2. Events and Communication

  • Deliver ongoing monthly engagement activities (lectures, meetups) in collaboration with members of the Urban Energy Institute, and in coordination with the UEI team.
  • Oversee the organization of an annual symposium/conference geared to engaging the broader UEI network.
  • Coordinate the presence of UEI at relevant events.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a content calendar for social media and newsletter.

3. Multi-disciplinary projects

  • Coordinate the development of multi-disciplinary project concepts in collaboration with external advisors and subject-matter experts.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to publicize project results.

Requirements

Core Competencies:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with project management or managing large, multi-disciplinary networks. Affinity for energy technology, energy planning, energy in the built environment is a strong asset, as well as experience in the energy field and knowledge about urban energy trends. 
  • Solid engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to be a broker and manage new relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Self-starter, with a willingness to find new opportunities to maximize the impact of energy-related research within TU Delft both internally (e.g. connecting researchers) and externally (e.g. representing TU Delft in strategic settings).
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize critical tasks.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, able to manage budgets, coordinate meetings, develop meeting agendas, and keep meeting minutes.
  • Ability to settle in quickly and to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluent in English and at least basic understanding of Dutch.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 jaar - tijdelijk.

  • Duration of contract is for 1 year.
  • A job of 32-38 hours per week.
  • A salary based on scale 10 of the CAO for Dutch Universities with a minimum of € 3.226,- and a maximum of € 5.090,- gross per month based on a fulltime contract (38 hours), plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
  • An excellent pension scheme via the ABP.

The Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment has a leading role in education and research worldwide.
