Job description

The Facility Manager (FM) is responsible for the management of all aspects of the Spinoza Centre (SC) facility, both in terms of its own (scientific) staff as of that of external researchers using the infrastructure. The infrastructure comprises both the equipment (mainly the MRI scanners, the peripheral equipment and the ICT environment) and the building (mainly the MRI rooms, preparation rooms and workplaces). In addition, the FM assists in supporting and promoting the use of the facility by internal/current partners and external clients.

Job requirements

  • practical experience with MRI and knowledge of the safety aspects of MRI, and a BROK-certificate (or the intention to obtain a BROK-certificate)
  • Academic education and attitude;
  • affinity with neuroscience;
  • good communicator; must be able to communicate in English. A working level of Dutch is an advantage.
  • service-oriented attitude;
  • team player, decisive, structured.

 

 

Conditions of employment

It concerns a temporary appointment for 1 year, with prospects of extension or permanent employment. Depending on training and experience, the gross monthly salary for a fulltime appointment is between a minimum of € 3,475 and a maximum of € 4,757 (scale 11 CAO-Dutch Universities), excluding 8% holiday pay and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. There is an extensive benefits package.

The Spinoza Centre for Neuroimaging

 

is a collaboration between Academic Medical Center (AMC), University of Amsterdam (UvA), VU University Amsterdam, VU Medical Centre, Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience (NIN) and Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and connects 400 neuroscientists in the Amsterdam region. The Spinoza Centre is an institute of the KNAW and has at its disposal a state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a 3 Tesla and a 7 Tesla MRI scanner, used to perform high quality neuroscientific research by Spinoza-researchers, partner-researchers and external parties.==

Department

Position in the organization

The FM is part of the MT (Management Team), together with the (scientific) director and the managing director. As a member of the MT the FM contributes to the policy development of the SC. The FM reports to the director of the SC.

The FM manages the assistant manager, the scanning assistant(s) and the research technician. Assistance for the FM can also be asked of the other staff of the SC, such as data-analysts and MRI-physicists. The FM is also the point of contact for tasks pertaining to building and work-related matters such as ICT and cleaning, as well as for tasks pertaining to research support (such as adjustments to the peripheral equipment), which are partly outsourced to third parties (e.g. the IT and mechatronics departments of the NIN, AMC Radiology).
