Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) – Strategy / Entrepreneurship / Innovation at the department of Organisation & Strategy, School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University
Research and Teaching in the fields of Strategy, International Business, Entrepreneurship, and/or Innovation. The position will involve teaching and supervision at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels. Research time and teaching time are 50% each.

Job description

The department is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated colleague with a research interest in the broad areas of Strategy, International Business, Entrepreneurship, and/or Innovation. Example topics include, but are not limited to: strategic management, international business strategy, emerging markets, (foreign direct) investment, industrial organization, entrepreneurship, mergers and acquisitions, alliances, innovation and business venturing.

Researchers in the department are actively studying such phenomena and have successfully published in top journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Review of Economic Studies, Review of Economics and Statistics, RAND Journal of Economics, Journal of Business Venturing, Research Policy, International Economic Review and Journal of International Business Studies. Apart from having an active research group that is open to collaboration, the Organisation & Strategy (O&S) department can provide you with experience-based support for building your academic career. Moreover, besides Strategy / Entrepreneurship / Innovation scholars, the O&S department contains faculty who research topics such as organization theory, labor economics, pro-active work behavior, performance in organizations, human resource management, innovation/learning, teamwork, (strategic) leadership, and other individual and collective processes at work. Hence, there are opportunities for multi-disciplinary research.

The job concerns a tenure track position. For technical reasons a 10 year contract applies. A positive evaluation after 5 years, based on various teaching and research criteria, will provide a tenured position. Alternatively, the contract will be ended after 6 years. The 5 year evaluation period is prolonged in case of pregnancy, parental and sick leave.

Requirements

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Business Administration, Economics or another Social Science relevant to the position. Ideally, candidates have already published one or more high-quality papers and have an active pipeline of scientific papers demonstrating a good research fit with the department. Especially candidates with an entrepreneurial, flexible and cooperative mindset are welcome to apply.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: Tenure Track.

Full time Tenure Track Assistant Professor position according to VSNU CAO scale 11.

Candidates receive a one-off temporary employment contract for ten years as UD 2 (Universitair Docent, eg Assistant Professor). Five years after the appointment, or sooner if the pre-established criteria have been met, a post is granted indefinitely as UD 1. The ten-year contract allows for any delays arising from special circumstances such as maternity leave, parental leave or long-term illness.

The Department of Organization and Strategy of the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics was founded in the year 2002. In the relatively short period of its existence, the department has gained a strong reputation in both research and education.
