Nijmegen School of Management
The Nijmegen School of Management (NSM) is an academic centre of research and education, focusing on institutional and managerial issues within complex organisations in both the public and private domain. There are seven focus areas within NSM: Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, Political Sciences of the Environment, Human Geography and Spatial Planning. NSM strives for a multi-disciplinary approach whenever possible. Altogether, NSM employs 265 full-time staff, of which 75% are academics.
The Chair of 'Environment: Governance and Politics', the envisaged title of what currently is the chair of Political Sciences of the Environment, is part of the department of Geography, Planning and Environment (GPE). The department has about 50 full time equivalents.
The department has the primary responsibility for the Bachelor’s programme Geography, Planning and Environment and three Master’s programmes: in Human Geography, in Spatial Planning, and in Environment and Society Studies.
The department’s research programme covers issues on the interaction between space, environment and society. Empirical themes of the research comprise international migration, climate change, cross-border issues, regional and urban development, mobility and transport, water management, grass roots initiatives on sustainability issues, and land use planning and governance.
