The Amsterdam Law School has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral researcher in Public International Law. The researcher should have a background in International Economic Law (broadly understood) that allows her/him to possibly contribute to teaching tasks (see below on ‘tasks’).
The postdoctoral researcher should place her/his research within the programme on ‘Law and Justice Across Borders’, in which ACIL collaborates with the Amsterdam Center for European Law and Governance (ACELG) and the Center for the Study of European Private Law (CSECL). Preferably, the postdoctoral researcher should connect to one of ACIL’s research projects (available on the ACIL website).
ACIL aims at contributing to the critical understanding as well as progressive understanding of international law. Its research employs legal-doctrinal methods of research as well as non-legal methods. An interdisciplinary dimension of research is encouraged.
Tasks
The position is first and foremost a research position; yet the candidate will have the opportunity, or may be asked, to be involved in teaching (≤ 20%) in international economic law (broadly understood). The details of teaching tasks can be discussed at an eventual interview.

The appointment will be for the period of 1 year initially, renewable by one year. The proposed starting date is 1 September 2018.
Extension of the contract after the first year is subject to satisfactory performance. The gross full-time monthly salary will be in accordance with the salary scales for postdoc researchers at Dutch universities, scales 10 and 11, ranging from € 2,588 up to €4,757. Secondary benefits at Dutch universities are attractive and include 8% holiday pay and an 8.3% end of year bonus. The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities is applicable.
