Probing mechanical forces in polymeric materials and hydrogels is of high importance to obtain detailed insight in the mechanisms behind their mechanical failure, and for the interaction of living cells with. To this end we will develop ultrasensitive probes that respond to force with the emission of light. We seek highly talented, motivated, and enthusiastic candidates with an MSc degree in organic chemistry, or related discipline. The successful candidate has a solid background in (physical) organic chemistry, as well as good communication skills, is fluent in English, and should have a strong motivation to do original, fundamental research in an interdisciplinary team. Experience with the synthesis of organic molecules or polymers is essential.  An interview and a scientific presentation are part of the selection process.

Gross monthly salaries € 2.222,- to € 2840,- in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO NU).
