Job description

The role will involve playing a leading role in developing and executing the Research Data Services at TU Delft and 4TU.ResearchData, the data archive for the technical sciences in the Netherlands. Some of the tasks will be:

1. Ensure high-quality training on Research Data Management throughout TU Delft, working with a range of stakeholders institutionally, nationally and internationally.

2. Create and maintain high-quality advice on Research Data Management throughout TU Delft.

3. Monitor and analyse progress of Research Data Management at TU Delft.

4. Present and champion 4TU.ResearchData on a national and international basis.

5. Play a leading role in policy, development and ongoing implementation of 4TU.ResearchData.

6. Play a leading role in national and international working groups on data. In particular for the  the CAESER Research Data Management Group: encouraging members, devising ideas and plans, and ensuring their delivery.

Requirements

You have a university degree and experience in academic research and understand what motivates researchers.

• You are able to understand and communicate with researchers from different disciplines, and provide persuasive arguments on the advantages of good research data management.

• You have good experience of training, and understand how to turn learning goals into suitable workshops, seminars etc.

• You have a good understanding of how the different aspects of university operate (Eg the faculties, support services such as the library).

• You have excellent networking, communication, social and negotiation skills.

• You have excellent command of the English language, written and spoken.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

This position has an amount of 36-40 (1,0 fte) working hours per week. The offer contains a temporary appointment for one year, with the possibility of extension. The salary is based on scale 11 with a maximum of € 4.757,- per month on a fulltime basis. The TU Delft offers a customisable compensation package, a discount for health insurance and sport memberships, and a monthly work costs contribution. Flexible work schedules can be arranged. An International Children’s Centre offers child care and an international primary school. Dual Career Services offers support to accompanying partners. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

It has been in existence since 2010 and hosts over 7,500 datasets from a variety of scientific disciplines.
