Job description

The work

For the three-year research program Citizenship and Democracy within the VSNU program Digital Society, we are looking for a supporting program coordinator at the post-doc level (1fte).

The ideal candidate has demonstrable affinity with research management and substantive scientific work at the interface of digitization and information technology innovation on the one hand, and administrative cooperation and multi-actor decision making on the other. You are an enthusiastic organizer with an eye for both tasks and people.

At TiU, in addition to Citizenship and Democracy, three other research programs are being set up within the Digital Society Research Agenda. These programs focus on Responsible Data, Health and Wellbeing and Learning and Education.

 

Tasks

  • You are the secretary of the core team at Tilburg University in the field of Citizenship and Democracy and support the professor on this theme within the Digital Society program. You will be posted at the Tilburg Institute for Governance.
  • You work together and are in close contact with researchers from other universities working on the Citizenship and Democracy theme.
  • You investigate the connection with Brainport Smart Districts and contribute to the Living Lab that is to be set up.
  • You are aware of everything that is happening within the program through hands-on monitoring and are a source of information for people inside and outside the program.
  • You coordinate internal information flows, including annual progress reporting.
  • You organize program meetings in larger and smaller contexts, both with national  and international speakers.
  • You are outreaching and will shape the scientific connection and exchange between the four research lines of TiU within Digital Society (see above) both substantive and practical.
  • You initiate and / or contribute to scientific and professional publications.
  • You coordinate knowledge transfer to various social organizations.
  • You assist with subsidy applications.
  • You are active as a networker.

Requirements

  • In the possession of a PhD or else will obtain a PhD in the near future;

  • Able to carry out research independently;

  • Experience or at least affinity with (research) management or organizational tasks;
  • Affinity and / or experience with science communication;
  • Affinity with and knowledge of the Digital Society domain, in particular in the area of Citizenship and Democracy  (Digital Society Research Agenda)
  • Able to enthuse others for collaborative projects;
  • Experience with publishing in international scientific journals.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 + 2 years.

It concerns an employment contract for 0.8 - 1.0 fte. First a year contract and with a good performance an extension of two years. The salary depends, among other things, on training and experience and amounts to a minimum of € 3,475 and a maximum of € 4,757 (scale 11/ researcher 3) gross per month for full-time employment.
