Job description

As Teaching Coordinator CS you will be jointly responsible for the organization of the teaching of the Department of Computer Science and the 3 Bachelor and 5 Master programmes it offers to more than 1000 students in the Graduate School of Information Sciences. The Teaching Coordinator will heavily collaborate with the Programme Directors, who are responsible for the content of the various programmes.
 
The necessary tasks will be effectively divided between you and a newly appointed assistant coordinator. The current coordinator will be temporarily available to support you in the beginning phase.
 
Expected Tasks
Jointly with the other members of the teaching organization, you will be expected to perform the following tasks:
• Organization of all facilities for teaching in collaboration with the Faculty Teaching Office.
• Contributing to the development of the current and future teaching programmes, taking into account the technological developments in the Information Sciences domain.
• Collecting and providing information to the Programme Directors
• Analysing problems and suggesting potential improvements w.r.t. the organisation and execution of the teaching
• Advising and supporting the Programme Directors to ensure the quality of the programmes, including the preparation of visitations and yearly reports
• Provide information to students with regard to the study programme and organisation of teaching.
• Organise the contact with Departmental alumni Organise Study and Career courses and events
• Coordinate and instruct Junior Teachers and Teaching Assistants
• Contribute to Marketing and Communication of the teaching programmes.
• Coordinate with the International Office of the University w.r.t. student admission
• Optionally, there might be the possibility to partially combine the function with the position of student advisor

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with strong analytic skills who can pragmatically solve problems and conceptualise situations, who is well organised and has an eye for detail, and who has a desire to help us provide the highest quality teaching possible. We expect an academic degree and work experience within an academic teaching environment. Note that English is the teaching language within the department, and demonstrated English language proficiency will be required. The ability to speak and write in Dutch is a significant benefit.

Conditions of employment

The initial appointment will be for a period of 1 year. There is the possibility to extend the initial appointment with 1 year. You may find information about our excellent fringe benefits at www.workingatvu.nl
• Remuneration of 8.3% end-of-year bonus and 8% holiday allowance;
• Participation in a solid pension scheme (ABP);
• A minimum of 29 holidays in case of full-time employment. 
 
The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel and range from a minimum of € 2640 gross per month in the first year up to a maximum of € 4166 gross per month (salary scale 10 CAO NU) based on a full-time employment.
